The world’s largest bread loaf was originally created as an exterior sign for the Colonial Baking Company in Montgomery, Alabama circa 1970 (pictured on the left below). Russell T. Bundy, founder of Bundy Baking Solutions, acquired the giant bread loaf some time after the bakery’s closing in 2001 and commissioned its restoration and redesign in 2016 (pictured in the middle photos below) by having the loaf wrapped with vinyl graphics and the ends hand painted. Constructed from foam, wood, steel, wire mesh, and fiberglass, the loaf measures 33′ long x 7.5′ wide x 8′ tall. The loaf was re-wrapped in 2023 (pictured on the right below) following updates due to the expansion of the Bundy Baking Solutions’ family of brands.
Situated near the entrance to the Bundy Baking Solutions’ headquarters at 417 East Water Street, Urbana, Ohio, USA, the loaf is now a well-known icon that welcomes company employees and guests.
Although the location of the giant loaf is on private property, it is visible and can be photographed from the sidewalk or street. We thank individuals in advance for abiding by our no trespassing policy.
